I think this is kind of a hilarious story where the narrator gets absolutely freaked out by the mention of people giving their hearts and taking each other's hands in a book. As a bilingual person I love how this story plays with the nuances of the English language, emphasizing on the fact that taking English phrases literally can lead to craziness. The fact that he came up with this concept makes me thoroughly inclined to believe that the inside of Philip K Dick's brain must be an interesting place.
