Look, I know giving Hamlet only three stars is basically a crime, but to be honest I just didn’t enjoy the process of reading this book. Shakespeare’s ancient English is literally exhausting to read and I could barely understand what was happening half the time. Yes, yes I know that’s just because I’m too stupid to appreciate his brilliance, but I’m not going to lie about how much I enjoyed it when I didn’t.
I’ve become aware of some rewritings of his books in modern English available online, and I’m going to use them as references going forward with his work. That should help. I might come back and change this review when I understand what the hell even happened in this book.
