After reading The Court of The Vampire Queen, I must say this was much better, both consent and plot wise. However, that was definitely not the highest bar to surpass and this was like vast majority smut. But the plot was lowkey...good? and enjoyable to read? Which I was not expecting for how much of a backseat it took at times. The characters were fairly basic, but at least had depth even though they were very trope-y. There were actual twists and turns and the characters did absolutely change throughout the book. I do hope to see Isolde fight for herself a little more in the following books, without others stepping in for her. and just generally needing to be "saved" less, because she is a warrior before she is a noble after all. I will most likely continue reading the series, because it was a nice easy read after the more emotional books I've been reading.
