Factfulness: Ten Reasons We're Wrong About the World – and Why Things Are Better Than You Think by Hans Rosling

4.0

This is a quick read that I'm going to recommend to all my friends and acquaintances. If you worry about the state of the world; if you don't know how to decide which source of news or which current crisis to focus on, this book is your road map.

The author both explains that things are getting (slowly) better, and details the common mental biases that make it hard for us to keep sight of those facts in current society. The facts get a little dense at times, but there are fascinating stories interspersed which vividly illustrate the main ideas.

I particularly appreciate that the book suggests plenty of resources for keeping up to date on the facts and trends described. It's given me a lot to think about, and I expect I'll want to pick this up again to reflect on certain sections more deeply.
