I watched the shorts the book was inspired by and followed Jill through her writing journey so I may be a bit biased, but I loved the book in very different ways. We get to see so much of the characters feelings and thoughts as they navigate the plot and that include Caroline in her life outside her writing, which was such a nice addition. I was very invested in Caroline's work place struggles as well as Rosamunds journey. I loved all the characters, new and old, and the fantasy plot shaped up very nicely in the book, filling in the holes left in the shorts series.

I don't think Caroline and Rosamund grow to be truly friends the way they do in the shorts, but that is much less the focus of the book and if I hadn't come from the shorts I wouldn't have thought anything of it. Other changes I liked very much and overall it was a very enjoyable read and I am more than satisfied with it.
