Congratulations, by the Way: Some Thoughts on Kindness by George Saunders

4.0

Congratulations, by the Way: Some Thoughts on Kindness is a slightly expanded version of George Saunders' 2013 convocation address to students at Syracuse University. It's only 12 minutes long, but he has some nice reminders about being kind. I doubt that anyone would disagree that more kindness is needed and necessary in this world, and he has some ideas about how to be kinder, such as education (broadening your mind and horizons), meditation, prayer if that's your thing, art, and talks with friends. It's a very kind and gentle speech about kindness and one that I will re-listen to when I need a reminder.
"Find out what makes you kinder, what opens you up and brings out the most loving, generous, and unafraid version of you—and go after those things as if nothing else matters."
