Slip of the Tongue by Jessica Hawkins

4.0

4 to 4.5 stars. I am grateful to the publisher for giving this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sadie and Nathan seem to have a perfect marriage, and Nate has always been a doting husband.....and then seemingly out of the blue, he is absent, from their apartment, from their bed, and he is not talking to Sadie. After 2 months of this, a new neighbor moves in. Finn feels familiar to Sadie and there is an instant attraction.

Books with angst are hard for me to read and I had to take breaks as my heart and stomach were a mess while reading Sadie's journey. The book is told entirely in Sadie's POV, so there is missing information about Finn and Nathan. This book involves some heavy topics, but along with infidelity, there is a question of fate, discussion of guilt, and my favorite a look as how we communicate through our love languages.

The author did an excellent job of portraying what can happen when a perfect marriage is no longer perfect and what role fate and personal choices play into that. I was definitely left with a delicious book hangover.
