So You've Been Publicly Shamed
by Jon Ronson
This book is very important, especially in today's climate.
Everyday we watch people become destroyed or vilified via social media for some ill-advised or innocuous tweet/comment. Why are people so quick to condemn? Why are people so desperate for justice from behind their keyboard?
This book looks at several interesting cases of people who have been shamed online and how it has affected their lives. It also looks at the history of shaming and why public shaming was made illegal before public executions.
Written with authority, compassion, and Jon Ronson's characteristic self-deprecating humour. It's an enjoyable, factual and intelligent read.
