Girl Waits with Gun
by Amy Stewart
Our book club chose this book and I loved it!
At times I felt as bewildered as the main character at the events that were unfolding, but I found it to be an enjoyable ride. I could see where it was going much faster than she could, but that only added to my enjoyment.
I had no idea it was historical fiction when I began (note to self - I really do like reading books about which I have no preconceived notions!). It only made it more fun to realize that much of what happened in the book actually happened. The headlines one of the sisters uses for her pigeon training were hilarious (and mostly real!?!). The characters were fully fleshed out and enjoyable. This was a very fun read - I'm so glad there's a sequel coming out soon!
