Fae Hunted by Rose Garcia

3.0

“Fae Hunted” is an original and refreshing fae book, with a Hispanic main character, something we don’t usually see in YA fantasies. While the plot was original and promised an intense story, I can’t help but feel that the development and pace wasted away all the potential.

Gabriela is a half witch half fae who lives in the human realm and must return to Faevenly to save it from an evil witch. Her mom is the princess of the fae realm and both Gabriela’s parents have disappeared, so she wants to find them and bring them home.

To do so she has the help of a fae named Leaf. I really didn’t like him, I felt like he was a broody, broken bad boy with a mysterious past and some serious communication problems, saying he wanted to be with Gabriela one moment, then the next treating her badly. I guess the author was trying an enemies to lovers trope but it didn’t really work. Plus their relationship wasn’t really well constructed and they never really talked about their feelings.

Besides the romantic stuff, the plot was fresh and creative. I loved the family dynamics, Gabriela’s witch powers and how she uses them to connect with others.

While the writing style wasn’t really for me and felt like everything was too rushed, I enjoyed the story and i’m waiting for the sequel.

I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
