Down a Dark Road by Linda Castillo

5.0

Of course I said this before but this book has been the best one in the series. They just keep getting better and better. An Amish friend, from when Kate was a young girl, has been sentenced for killing his wife. He breaks out of prison and ambushes Kate, tells her that he did not kill his wife. And a shit storm happens from there. A very edge-of-your-seat adventure.

I wrote down the usual notes for this book that I do with this series. Lots of police jargon and Pennsylvania Dutch words and phrases. So I will only write down the few that aren't that.

page 275 - title alert! "....had gone down a dark road". (No spoilers)

page 325 - a reloader - someone who will reload their own shells for a gun instead of buying new ones from the store. I knew people did that but I didn't know there was a name for it.

page 350 - Fatal Attraction meets Amish Mafia. I think I laughed a little too hard at that.

I guessed early on who the killer was but it didn't take away from the story. I could have been wrong. I also had theories of others who could have been the killer. It could have gone in any direction.

I absolutely love this series and am now reading the short story that was written to go after this book. It also makes me happy that the author is continuing this series. I am a happy reader right now!
