This is the second time I've read this book and apparently I'm more gray than before because I loved more the second time. The pacing, the story and the entertainment value was spot on. I love how twisted and unhinged Tristian is. Morally gray to black, red flags are flying from him. Yet he had a really perfect character growth arc that didn't change him fundamentaly, but just enough. A non-naive and not so innocent FMC is also refreshing. They are made for each other. It leans heavy into the Lion King, maybe a little more than the other books do into their original fairy tales. I could practically see Scar drawling Tristian's lines!
