Othello by William Shakespeare

3.0

This is my first proper revisit since undergrad, where I famously did not get on with this play. And as predicted, I am still not a fan of this play.

It was honestly very marked how much less discussion there was to be had here compared to the other’s we’ve done recently.

A few things I found a new appreciation for though: the marked change in Othello’s language as the play goes on, Emilia and Roderigo’s characters in general, and some true comedic elements that make me want to see this staged as a dark comedy.

Things I had less appreciation for: Iago.
