City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

4.0

I’ve read some polarizing reviews on this book, and it has been on my “to read” shelf for ever. So long, Claire managed to write like 15 books since then and now I have to figure out how to catch up.

Shamelessly, I have to admit, I enjoyed the ride quite a lot. It was a very fun story to be a part of.

Yes, I know it is full of cliches.
Yes, I know it reads like fan fiction.
Yes, I know character tropes are modeled after all the popular books
Yea, I also had a ton of fun with Twilight series.

Now there, out of the way. It was still a really fun book to read.

We got ancient orders, demons stepping in from another realm, vampires riding on flying motorcycles, werewolves, warlocks hosting parties in Brooklyn, and the story overall takes place in NYC (which I am partial to). Oh and also, a baddie who wants to start a new world and a seemingly normal girl living her seemingly normal life.

If this make you cringe, probably not for you.
If your eyes light up, delve in. Don’t make the same mistake I did and wait forever to start this.

Definitely re-visiting this world, that’s for sure.
