Hard to get through some parts but this story feels so important. Vanessa makes up a whole population of women and men alike, survivors, who don’t even know what they’ve truly survived. I feel so many things about this story and most of these feelings are not positive but I think that’s good. This isn’t a feel good book by any means but while disturbing, the story was captivating. I struggle giving a good rating given the content and how it made me feel but this is a good book and an important one. There are girls I went to high school with that I wish I could give this to so they could digest a story that, from the outside, seems all too similar to theirs.
