Woman, Eating by Claire Kohda
5.0

While this book starts off at a slower pace, I was immediately captivated by the writing. I found myself drawn to Lydia’s disjointed, often strange thought patterns and behaviours. It’s exactly the kind of weird girl fiction I’ve come to adore. Her inner conflict as she navigates her identity, both vampire and human, was really compelling. The tension between what she’s been told (or not told) by her mother, and the pull between her desires and her needs, created such a rich and layered character study.

This is a refreshingly unique take on a vampire novel. It’s quiet, introspective, and unsettling in all the right ways. It’s a book that lingers, and I know it’ll stay with me for a long long time.
