I'm not a huge reader of graphic novels and comics, so my knowledge is probably not on par with others who have left reviews here. That being said, I absolutely loved the artwork. It was so striking in every way imaginable. If I was just leaving a review based on the art, it would be 4-5 star. However.... The story and characters were mediocre at best. And some of the dialog was pretty awful. It's obvious that Joe Hill has a lot of love for what inspired this story and that's fantastic. I really wanted to like it as I've enjoyed Hill's novels and short story collections (not to mention what inspired him here), but I just did not connect with this at all.
