This book was way better than I expected.
I never really like stories with people who are "geniuses", not because I don't like smart people, but because it seems so implausible. That was the case here, but the story around it was so fun and exciting I'm willing to forgive it.
The dark subject matter was tackled gracefully and sensitively, and I really enjoyed all of the characters and seeing the story unfold.
Will definitely be reading the next book, although not immediately.
(Update 2024: yeah, still a 5 star read. Idc it's a good book.)
