Pretty Little Liars
by Sara Shepard
Never in a million years would I have thought that I would ever pick this series up, read it, and actually really enjoy it! Frankly, I kinda hate the cover for it and was anticipated an all together different read based on just that fact alone.
"Pretty Little Liars" is totally a guilty pleasure book that reminds me a lot of the books I used to read when I was younger. There's a whole ton of drama, yet some of the other topics covered within this book are also quite mature and unexpected - eating disorders, homosexuality, teen drinking, etc.
The characters are flawed and definitely spoiled brats, yet there is a level of vulnerability within each of them that redeems them. It kinda makes you want to root for them. Granted, I did find myself wanting to smack them at times for their choices, but I think it played in very well to how insecure each of the girls really is inside.
Overall, I am absolutely glad I read this book. Its a light, fun read that leaves you wanting more. I am definitely planning on continuing on in the series.
