Gone with the Wind
by Margaret Mitchell
Margaret Mitchell's beautifully descriptive prose and treatment of historical upheaval keep Gone with the Wind moving despite its length. I'd remembered how much I'd enjoyed it the first time, but not the desperate tragic sadness of the ending. Also I was much more frustrated this time around with Scarlett's bad behavior and stubborn hubris. Maybe now I'll see the movie sometime, since everyone I told I was reading it was shocked I haven't seen the film.
