Murder At Midnight by John Ukah

2.0

The story as expected is a Murder Mystery. 9 people in a lodge, one of them found dead. About 4 people have glaring motives but only one of them is a murderer. Even those without motives seemed like suspects. So who exactly is the murderer?

The story is told from the perspective of a resigned police officer, Alex who was also a guest in the lodge. He was also a guest sometime ago when a ‘suicide’ happened in the same lodge.

It’s a face paced read you can finish in one sitting, the characters are quite interesting and funny. There’s Mrs Marshall who knows every guest’s story. How? I don’t know. There’s Willie who doesn’t get an explanation or a joke until he asks about 1009 questions.

My problem with the book is the writing style. I can’t look past the writing no matter how interesting a book is. The repetition of ‘reminded me of” in the open chapters was a turn off. There were also some paragraphs and dialogues I feel could have been worded better.
