While none of the Little House books will ever be my top picks, they're definitely comfort reads, this one most of all. I don't know why I connect with this particular one so strongly. I suppose I like the idea of living in what is essentially a hobbit hole, and I like the fact that they encounter a huge amount of adversity in this book, but deal with it all with a smile and a simple "all's well that ends well". It's reassuringly solid, one of those books that you can read when you're having a bad day, and slip back into the familiar story and feel comforted.
