readerkt2 's review for:
Bag of Bones
by Stephen King
June 19, 2024***I am going to reread this one, which I never do. My son bought me this on a whim with his own money and said he thinks I'd really like it. I didn't have the heart to tell him I had read it already. So I'm reading it again. Maybe a new perspective might change my review. ****
Still one of the best. I saw a better book this go round than the first time. King never disappoints me.
All Stephen King books are great, but if there are different levels of greatness, this was higher on the leveled tiers. This gets 5 stars for its empathy, its kindness, its sadness, its reality, its complex messaging on capitalism, and race, its questioning of what family means.
I was confused for the first 2/3 rds of the book as to why one of the villainous ghosts were who they were. Why would these people be haunting Mike? It just didn't make sense. Then, as in all King books, it wraps up nicely at the end and is clarified exactly as expected. Great job again.
