The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
3.0
The Inheritance Games is the first instalment of the YA trilogy, full of mystery and suspence. True, I was expecting more riddles and games, when the book focused more on playing with the love interests, but I can't say that I wasn't engaged.
The book manages, furthermore, to keep things interesting till the very ending, leaving often some chapters on a cliffhanger to make things even more thrilling. However, the conclusion of the mystery was lukewarm, kind of a letdown. But the second book promises to give more background to the mother, so there is still hope. Also, the way it brushed off some plot twists felt too convenient.
Finally, I really enjoyed the main character, who was well writen and feisty. The writing style overall was spot on for the story.
