Everybody Sees the Ants
by A.S. King
4.5 This was an incredibly impactful novel. The deep connection to the war and seeing it's far reaching effects into generations afterwards shows how trauma truly hounds us everywhere we go. Bullying, assault, absent parents, cheating, drug abuse- so many things were subtly touched on, showing all kinds of suffering that paint our lives. The simple prose elevated Lucky Linderman's thoughts into something deeply moving and relatable. This is why I read- to uncover stories like this.
