Wild Hunger by Chloe Neill

5.0

So I love how this story picked up at just the right moment. Not a lot of writers can extend the lifeline of their story through secondary characters successfully but Chloe managed it superbly.

I enjoyed the characters in this novel Elisa Sullivan (daughter of Merit and Ethan) and Conner (son of Gabriel and Tonya) and her cute friend Lulu (daughter of Catcher and Mallory).

I really liked that she immediately differentiated Elisa as not just a vampire but more. When magic affects you there should definitely be something extra in the mix. It becomes very evident from early on in the novel how hard she battles to hide her inner demons. As she returns home from Paris to Chicago she feels out of sorts and doesn’t truly feel like she belongs.

Quote:
"And this time, instead of pushing it down or giving it control, I let the monster step beside me. It didn’t so much as hesitate. Two consciousnesses in one body, with all the combined strength and power. "

I also like the fact that she takes a different path from her mum and doesn't really want to align with Cadogan just as yet but is taking route as an unofficial member of the Ombudsmen. As she meets Theo and they go on a quest of sorts to save their friend Riley she starts learning and accepting her quirks and inner demons with the help of her friends and her unlikely love. Their chemistry was very reminiscent of a young Merit and Jonah but their adventure was quite entertaining
