I liked this book, but something didn't feel right to me. The colorful and funny coverart drew me in and the blurb assured me this book was hilarious. That made me expect a comedy. Like a romcom. Light and breezy and laughing throughout. But none of that is this book and the expectation ruined the experience for me.
This book is a literary piece, with some humor here and there. And the vibes are not lighthearted, but rather heavy and reflective. Why don't we just say what we want to say? Why stay scared and dig deeper holes for ourselves? Why judge other people so deeply when what we need is a mirror?
And so this book gets 3 stars. Though I would definitely want the story to disappear from my memory and reread it then with the right expectation and feel this book the way it was meant.
