A Thousand Perfect Notes
by C.G. Drews
The parental abuse in this book is quite extreme and unrelenting, making it a tough book. Some of it verges on the unrealistic - playing piano until your fingers bleed? I'm not so sure, maybe until you get RSI but it would be a string instrument that would make your fingers bleed.
Another part that was strange was that his girlfriend / her parents didn't take action until it was nearly too late.
The mother's story was not very nuanced, and the uncle could also have intervened but didn't until it was nearly too late.
Is this really how domestic abuse plays out? Until someone is nearly killed?
