Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters
4.5

It’s been a while since I’ve read a piece of literary fiction that touched me in the way this did. As she was able to do in the novella of hers I read just last night, Peters cut right to the most vulnerable parts of my being with her writing, even whilst writing about experiences so far from my own. So much of this book is incredibly tender—the way it moves through time centered around new life, something that throws off the existence of three deeply flawed people, moved me at every turn. I definitely enjoyed the first half of the book much more than the second and there were some parts that I believe the novel couldn’t done without and still been cohesive, yet aside from that little flaw it was perfect. The definition of “I couldn’t put it down.”
