This series does some fun things, has some fun ideas, and was obviously thought out in terms of world-building and plot.

Anyone else hear the ‘but?’

Yes, unfortunately there is a ‘but.’

There is a ton, and I do mean an epic ton, of info dumping, even in, and sometimes more so, dialogue. It starts to get really bad and extremely repetitive the further you go in the series. Which is another ‘but.’ There is a lot of repetitiveness about similar things that build up over the books. There is only so much of same but slightly different I am willing to put up with. I started skimming in later books and found I could skip chapters upon chapters without missing anything important.

Again, there are interesting things in this series. The problem is they are presented in the most bland and boring way possible. Even the action sequences drag! That’s a problem. So is all the time we spent in Corin’s head that turns into a record scratch after a while.

After 4 books, I am done with the series. The interesting bits are not done interesting enough to keep my attention, and there are only so many times I’m willing to read through similar discussions which are paragraphs upon pages long.
