A realistic, honest and fair look at the life of Anne Boleyn and how she impacted not only the history of England but of the world with her support of the Protestant movement.  This book does a wonderful job of also looking at the impact of Anne's life and death on her daughter.  The second half of this book takes a heartbreaking look at how Anne's death impacted her daughter and how she held on to anyone or anything that had played a part in her mothers life.  As the author so succinctly put it, "Anne's example was a powerful influence on her daughter throughout her reign.  But it proved a double-edged sword. As well as being an inspiring role Model for Elizabeth, Anne was also a painful reminder of the cloud of illegitimacy...."  Elizabeth I would take every opportunity put to her to try and legitimize not only her reign but that of her mother. Wonderful book about two complex women.
