Okay, Connor’s story was laced with something because I am absolutely in love. I honestly was excited to learn more about Connor, but Ivy was someone that was written so interestingly in Pepper’s story. Which makes sense since we were seeing Ivy from sister’s eyes, not Ivy herself as a character. The little girl - Hannah - made the book so much more enjoyable and it was so nice to continue seeing these men who are made out to be ruthless and heartless have soft spots for their daughters, nieces, and their friends’ children!

Connor Bridgerton (yes, Bridgerton) was head over heels in love with Ivy Harris, his coach’s daughter, from the first moment they met. But, she didn’t even bat an eye at him and rather focused on his teammate. He let her go without a fight especially because to him, she wasn’t interested so why torture himself? #amanwhoknowswhatsup am I right?

But Connor was met with needing to take care of his niece, Hannah, who was an absolute doll. He stepped up to be the best person in her life and her safe space, and he did everything in his power (almost immediately) to make sure that Hannah had a safe space to stay, especially with her family. We got to learn why this was important to Connor that she wouldn’t end up in the foster system, and it was all around an amazing storyline filled with backstories and character development.

The relationship between Connor and Ivy was actually so fun and dynamic. There wasn’t a forced proximity, there was no forbidden love or pregnancy tropes. It was two enemies (and we say enemies very loosely because they both fantasized about each other in secret), who turned to become friends because of Hannah and then to lovers. Their relationship took time to build, and once it did, they embraced it. He went to her dad and didn’t hide the fact that he was into her, and I mean of course there was drama, but it is a romance book after all!

Of course the 85% mark had a miscommunication that had a major fall out, but seeing their friends right there to slap sense into Connor was such an amazing moment. The epilogue was so sweet, and wrapped the story up with a bow. FYI there’s something about fictional hockey men and babies that has my heart. 10/10 would read this book again.
