Talk Me Down by Victoria Dahl

4.0

After reading Victoria Dahl's Donovan Brothers Brewery series and absolutely adoring it, I was quite greedy to find and read more of her work, so I was pretty excited to pick up Talk Me Down.

While I didn't immediately love it the way I had with Dahl's other books, I did quite enjoy Talk Me Down overall. I really liked the mysterious aspect of the plot. It took a romance that, while hot and sexy, probably would have been somewhat typical and added an interesting edge without it feeling too over the top.

Even in situations that were absolutely terrifying, there was still just an edge of humor to keep it from turning into something that just felt like it was too much.

The reason this story got four stars instead of five actually had more to do with the characters than the plot. I thought Ben was great. I liked him a lot. He wasn't perfect by any means, but he was a good guy.

My problem was with Molly. Overall, I liked her. She was sassy and fun. However, there were times when she also just really got on my nerves. After a while I came to understand that part of it was a defense mechanism, but it was so aggravating at times. Her reactions or behaviors added complications and frustrations where I felt it wasn't necessary.

I liked many of the minor characters and I'm looking forward to, hopefully, seeing them reappear in the other books of the series.
