This was incredible. I’ll admit o didn’t live it at first; while the writing style and the stories were all interesting, I really didn’t find Adam or Charles at all interesting, so the Hamiltons were initially what I grabbed onto. Once Cathy entered the scene, this book became pretty incredible. I’ll admit by the end she wasn’t the most interesting character to me (that would be Cal; god, Cal was almost created in a lab to be a character I live) but she instantly adds something so wonderful to this. I also loved Lee and Abra and to a lesser extent Aron. The way this story encompasses such a long time and so many interconnected plots is so wonderful; this is a stupid comparison, but some of my favorite books are Salems Lot and Ghost Story, which similarly take place over long periods of time and see the rise and fall of areas and have so many interesting and connected characters. Back to Cal, I absolutely love not only his character but what he represents - no one, not even Adam (who actually I don’t find very god at all: see what he did to Cathy) or Cathy or Sam or Aron can be Al god or all evil, and Cal and Abra show that so effectively. I think we can all relate to doing wrong even when we know it’s wrong and wish we weren’t doing so. Idk. He was just such an incredible character. Overall I absolutely loved this so so much.
