Midnight in Death
by J.D. Robb
In Death Series Novella, Book #7.5
This is a perfect Novella. She fits everything in, but doesn't feel rushed or squeezed for time. It has all the elements in the series and I really enjoyed this one as much as I would enjoy the full length novels in the series. It is a perfect mix of the detective/crime aspects and the relationship aspects of the series. This novella really shows how the series is in a quick, but thorough way.
If you have read the series this fits in perfectly in the timeline where it is and is highly enjoyable. As the series was being published this would have been the perfect "fix" while waiting on the next full length Novel.
If you have not read any of this series, you wouldn't be completely lost. You wouldn't get some of the references or know the relationships back stories though so you may not feel the same pull at this part of the books. Yet, it is written in a way you can still appreciate the characters and their relationships.
