So Thirsty by Rachel Harrison
3.0

An interesting premise, some really lovely writing. I enjoyed it and read through it quite quickly.

Ultimately, it feels significantly more shallow than it thinks it is. As though you can feel the writer trying to make a profound point, but falling well short. I remember having a similar reaction to Cackle.
Spoiler In both stories, the characters are pretty horrible people who don't really seem to accept their horribleness, and the author seems to want to present their choices as actually fine, actually acceptable, when really they are.... awful. Also, a 600yo vampire is drawn to Sloan - a mid-30s sadsack who doesn't even particularly care that she's married to a serial cheater and seems to have no hobbies, friends, passions, etc other than enjoying listening to podcasts about disasters that he.... probably already knows about, see above re being 600yo? It's very Mary Sue.
