The Game of Hope by Sandra Gulland

2.0

Nothing happened. Legit nothing happened I got to about 260 pages in, nothing happened and the little things that did happen were glossed over in under like three sentences, e.g. death, war, you know - exciting stuff compared to what Hortense had for breakfast.

Then nothing happened in the last 100 pages either, more happened in the afterword! Hortense had no personality whatsoever and acted like a five year old - and not even an interesting one at that - her mother was also irritating and nothing made sense! Two stars instead of one because of Caroline and the little American girl.

The tag line of this book was: ‘for the stepdaughter of napoleon, nothing is simple - especially love’

Legit like, didn’t even apply. I just wanted this book to end dear god!
