The Complete Grimm Chronicles by Isabella Fontaine, Ken Brosky

5.0

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. In the past I had seen great reviews for the books in this series but I could never bring myself to read them. As a rule I almost never read novellas or serials because I always feel like I need more meat from the stories or I don't get drawn in. Now the authors have solved that issue for me by packing all the stories in to one book. I loved the twists that they make on the classic Grimm's tales are so ingenious and ensures a never ending supply of characters to play the villains. Another thing that I love is that this book is clean. Anyone old enough to read about fighting monsters is old enough to read this book. Well....as long as they are ok with some romance. The heroine is a high Scholl senior after all. Only one thing bothered me about this book and only because I tend to be a bit anal. Several sections of the book are diary entries from past heroes. These past heroes do not use dialog appropriate to the times they lived. Example: a former slave uses the word anywho. I remember when the word became big in the early 1990s so there is no way anyone from the time of the Civil War would use it. Not a big deal, just annoying to me. Definitely don't let that keep you from reading this amazing book! If you like reading about strong female characters that kick crazy monster butts you will love this book.
