Beautiful Music for Ugly Children by Kirstin Cronn-Mills
3.0
Book #13 completed for Book Riot Challenge 2016: "A book by or about a person that identifies as transgender"
It wasn't bad, the characters were lovable and relatable. It wasn't too saccherin-sweet like most teen novels, but it wasn't too dark either. The prose was very middle school-y in my opinion though and there were a couple of discrepancies (eg. "She wore her hair in a messy bun. ---She flipped her hair and walked out" huh, I bet that looked pretty stupid). But overall, it's written with great intentions to put a light on the transgender community to help the rest of us understand what they go through.
