Pretty much a throwback to the old fashioned thriller variety channeling the best of Crichton in a NZ setting and bringing into play some of NZ's legends and myths

This action packed page turner packs quite a punch and the monster creature element and the horror in the situation is very well done. The characters are pretty much Crichtonian with the alpha male good guy, the smart damsel in distress and the self serving small minded snivelling cowards who get thier comeuppance. As mentioned earlier, its a wonderful throwback to the age of simple straightforward plotting with high survival stakes
