The Obsession
by Nora Roberts
3/5 stars! DNF
I really loved Nora Robert’s ‘Divine Evil’ it was exactly what I wanted to read at the time. Great characters, writing, plot and tropes.
‘The Obsession’ seemed another good book by Nora Robert’s that seemed similar and right up my alley. This book starts off so strong with Naomi recounting the moments she found out her father was a serial killer. Her finding one of his victims alive in a shed of horrors. Her having to live with what she had seen and the after effects, a tragedy, trying to escape her past and so much more. But ever since she got to her current moment in time in 2016 it all went down hill for me.
It became so boring. Iv lost the point of the story, where is the obsession? Where is this person in the blurb and the title that is supposed to be obsessed with her? I got to nearly 250 pages and haven’t even heard a pep. For nearly 200 pages we got Naomi in a new town meeting boring people in a boring town.
The main love interest, Xander who is in you guessed it…a local rock band (avoid and red flags a plenty but that’s just my personal thoughts!) I didn’t like at all. We got his internal mologue of calling Noami a ‘leggy’ blonde and wandering around her house and his first thought is ‘who is she having sex with in this house?’ Like okay…I just didn’t connect with him. I found him to be really creepy.
I found the only reason I was reading was because I found the first part of the book so intruding. But when I started to fall asleep and I was nearly half way through I knew I just didn’t care anymore and this book just wasn’t for me.
