This was a really cute, quick rom-com! I did feel like the book needed maybe one more editing pass though. Not sure if it was because I was reading the eBook or not, but there were several times where the author seemed to have gotten a little comma happy, a few times where the wrong word/tense was used and a handful of times where spaces got missed. Plus one time where we're supposed to be in Gemma's POV and I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be Serena talking but it says that "Gemma said". It wasn't necessarily bad, but it was at the same time a little jarring to come across.
I loved Gemma and Zach and the way they kind of played off each other at first. Like even though he was kind of being a man-whore, I felt like half the time Zach only "forgot" Gemma's name to piss her off. And the whole Bigfoot thing was kind of endearing, honestly.
Overall, Gemma was decent. I liked that she didn't push Zach (or anyone) into something because it was what she wanted, instead she did her best to find stuff that worked with how they felt. I did wish there'd been a little more on her struggles with the bet and what it would mean in regards to her and Zach earlier. As things started getting more serious, she'd have a momentary "should I feel guilty?" but then she'd remind herself what was at stake and off she went. Then the night of the gala, she started worrying a little more and then she really worried when Arielle spilled the beans, but it just kind of half felt like the author forgot to add that in? Not sure if that's just me or not.
Zach was decent. I did find myself wanting a little more on his background though. Yeah, we did get an explanation on the whole Lisa thing but I kind of felt like the camping interaction was almost shoehorned in. Like there was never any explanation (unless I maybe missed something?) on why she showed up since it felt like a reunion thing of Zach/Martin/Brody's friends so why would Lisa come if she's officially an ex? So the overall interaction felt like a way to shove Gemma further into Team Zach. I did like that he was able to walk himself to the fact that Gemma may have messed up but she hadn't been trying to change him at all (okay, he had a little help from his friends but he still did most of the leg work himself).
