The Haar
by David Sodergren
What an absolute DELIGHT. Strange to say that about a horror novel, I know, but I truly loved every minute of this. I was told it was a love story, and I was a little skeptical, but everyone was right.
Set in Scotland, Muriel is 84 years old and a widower of 12 years. A multi-million dollar company is forcing residents of her quaint seaside town out of their homes and she's desperately trying to hold on to her house, which holds so many memories of her and her late husband Billy's life together. She won't go down without a fight - and fight she does.
I won't give much more because if you plan to read it, I think you should go in as blind as possible. This contains very descriptive body horror! I personally loved it and found the story to be so satisfying by the end.
Final verdict: LOVED it. Can't recommend it enough.
Graphic: Body horror
