The Backstagers #1 by James Tynion IV, Rian Sygh

This was such a tease!

I was so lucky to get an arc from Netgalley, and I thought I was getting a whole graphic. WRONG! I received the first issue in exchange for an honest review.

I am so excited to see more of these characters and this school. Jory is the new boy in St. Genesius, all-boy school. When he decides/encourage/forced to participates in a school activity, he decides to join the drama club. . . though he doesn't spend any time on stage. He is given the task to find a prop from the stage crew and it set him on a crazy journey down the larger than normal subbasement of the school.

This comic was able to introduced so many different types of boys. I am really excited to see how this comic is going to tackle the gender roles and sexuality. This is a such a funny comic filled with great art, colorful characters, and healthy dose of magical weirdness.

I can't wait to read more.
