Primary Inversion by Catherine Asaro

4.0

The first of her books (1996) and it's quite a good one. I deeply miss the female consciousness in science fiction. Male authors like David Weber who create female leads seem to be missing something that an author like Asaro can reveal and the reader can warm to. The novel shows the earmarks of a first book with a plot that is on the simplistic and predictable side. It is, however, intelligently written with a wonderful fusion of biotechnology and psychology and a context for both. The intricate characters and their circumstances easily kept me going. She has smoothly integrated into this book her background of chemistry and physics from UCLA and Harvard. I am definitely looking forward to reading more of her work. By the way, her impressive bio is definitely worth looking up. I may be in love.
