I have never read a book quite like this one. The author makes it almost impossible to not hate June (imo) but does so in a way where you can still understand her motives. The usage of first person in this novel is clever—June tries desperately to get the readers to understand her choices, and this would not have been effective with another POV. I did not expect the ending, but I think it made the ending take a turn in an interesting and inspirational way.
