Another winner from JLA! Fall of Ruin and Wrath is her the first book in her new adult fantasy series, and it did not disappoint!

This dystopian meets high fantasy meets a little paranormal was a classic example of JLA’s intricate world-building style. The political system, the magic system, all of it was connected and detailed and well built-out. Sometimes it was a little hard to follow, but if you hang on, it does explain itself later on.

We also get our usual twists and turns throughout the plot, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. The first 10-15% was a little slow for me, compared to the rest of the book, but once it got past that, it kicked into high gear and I ended up staying up way too late to finish it!

The romance here is a little slower burn than usual for JLA’s new adult stuff, but the delightful tension and build-up more than made up for it.

Overall, this was a unique and fun read, and I can’t wait for the next one!

Thank you to Malissa, JLA, and Bramble for the ARC.
