A Tale Dark & Grimm
by Adam Gidwitz
Gidwitz, Adam, and Jacob Grimm. A Tale Dark & Grimm. New York: Dutton Children's, 2010. Print. Required. A Tale Dark and Grimm is about a brother-sister duo named Hansel and Gretel. They are upset with their parents so they head off on their own. They run into a lot of trouble with dragons, serial killers, and werewolves. They eventually return back home to their parents. The title is not misleading; this story is dark and grim. There are parts that might be questionable for children. It is violent hence the fighting of dragons and serial killers. I would read this to my kids for sure, maybe not in a classroom setting, because parents might get mad. I think the story has a great moral to it and lots of humor so I would teach my kids about violence with this story.
