Oblomov by Ivan Goncharov
4.0

Introduced me to the term Oblomovitis! It's a real word in the Russian dictionary now that came from this novel! It means "indolent apathy" which is the mindset of Oblomov, the protagonist, who basically doesn't like to do much. He's safe lying about in comfort and while he has friends both treacherous and not who visit and is quite good-hearted, he finds excuses to not do things, is not able to plunge into life, and avoids problems. His friend Stolz is not able to solve Oblomov's case for all he tries, and there's also a love triangle included. It's something that I think I understand and I like how Goncharov has given it voice.

Surprisingly I enjoyed the novel, for I found it romantic and burgeoning somehow, for its odd subject, and despite the soapy story.
