The Price of the Haircut: Stories by Brock Clarke

1.0

I got this as part of a mystery bag at my local bookstore. I would not have picked this up normally, since I dont like satire and wouldnt chose to read a collection of short stories.

After most of the stories, I was left thinking "why? Why would someone write this?" Because I dont get the point of this kind of satire. It doesnt make me feel good to read it, I dont feel more knowledgeable or a like a better person after reading it, I dont recognize anything in the stories that makes me want to change. I'm convinced satire is just not for me.

I will say though, I laughed (the way you unexpectedly laugh at a book or find something surprisingly amusing) three times while reading. But this is not enough to save this book in my eyes. Most of the stories were horrible. They were interesting and I know you're not supposed to like the characters and I didnt, but that doesnt make me happy about it.
